On my morning walk today I was considering what I might write about when I came across a large turtle about 20 yards away.
What I have learned from previous experiences is that when an animal who exists as wild in nature appears so unusually (you don’t stumble upon a turtle in the suburbs of NJ) I should always stop ask if they have some information to offer. Hence, here is my conversation with the turtle:
Me: I won’t let me dog get you.
Turtle: Yes, I can tell you are stopping her from coming at me.
Me: I didn’t realize what you were at first. I thought you were a log. Why are you here? Do you have a message for me or for anyone else?
Turtle:You and all people need to get into the earth. Otherwise, you miss a lot.
She then invited me to open my heart to her and to the earth.
Me: I instantly felt more grounded, centered, connected, lighter and I just felt more at peace.
Are you a female or a male?
Turtle: Female.
Turtle: That’s right. Just stop and give the earth a minute. It is worth it.
