This past winter I was contacted to find a missing feline named Muffin. Muffin’s parents were incredibly worried and asked me to help. I felt that Muffin had gotten stuck in a nearby shed or garage in a specific direction, where he could look out a window but he couldn’t get out. Using my ability to sense the likely direction of a missing animal, I provided information about his location. What a wonderful feeling when Muffin was located in just such a place! Locating missing animals is a very rewarding part of the work that I do. Recently, I was incredibly saddened to find out that Muffin had made his transition out of his physical body after being struck by a vehicle. Muffin’s family was, naturally, devastated.

As with so many brokenhearted individuals, when their animal passes, there is often questioning. Why did this happen?  Why would such a beloved pet would go from a loving home, especially when they seemed to have so much life left in them?

An Animal’s Purpose

I take Muffin’s life as a testimony to the power of the intervention by God to bring certain animals into our lives at particular times. In my most recent FB Live Broadcast,Your Pet’s Life Purpose With You, I spoke about this very topic. I felt compelled to share my experiences as a professional animal communicator and pet parent. Animals are forever pushing us to acknowledge what our purpose/s are (we can have many) and how they want to help achieve these purposes. In turn, we help our animal’s achieve their own purposes. And many times the two are intertwined.

The Connection Never Ends

Muffin was the perfect example of an animal who shared a deep connection with his humans, especially his mom, and wanted to support her in achieving her best in life. Muffin was clear that he wanted his mom to delve deeper into the world of plants. He showed me images of his human mom working closely with plants, digging her hands into the soil and cultivating the earth. In doing so, she would always maintain her heart connection with Muffin. Muffin was a cat who craved the outdoors. There are cats that long to be in direct contact with the earth and are simply miserable any other way. For many, it is not an easy decision to allow their precious animal to go outside, but some felines are so connected with nature, their humans come to the conclusion that they have little choice. Of course, if outdoor time is the final decision, spaying and neutering is always an important component to prevent the stray cat population from rising.

Why Has My Beloved Pet Left?

I have to admit, I do not have all of the answers, but I can share patterns that I have witnessed over the course of over a decade as a professional animal communicator. Animals often seem to move with the seasons of our lives, entering in right before or during a significant time of growth, healing or transition. And then, I see many that exit prior to yet another transition or evolution. I have found time and time again that animals give us their support during just the time that we need them and then they depart. This can seemingly not make sense because the person may wonder, why now? However, when we really take a closer look, the time that may follow the animal’s leaving was actually the start of a new phase of life.

Change In Dynamics

Often, an animal has transitioned to leave an opening for a current animal in the home to take on a new role. Similarly, this may also apply to a new animal who enters into your life at a specific time. The animal dynamics may change drastically. Your more passive dog may suddenly start acting more like an alpha than you ever thought possible.

I encourage everyone to give their animal the chance to express what they are here to help their human accomplish. Giving your animal the opportunity to talk about what they are here to help you accomplish is a beautiful experience that will deepen your connection with your pet. In addition, asking your pet to give you insight into how you can help them live the life they are here to live is incredibly important to their physical and emotional well-being.
