Adopting a shelter pet is one of the best gifts we can give and receive. Part of the joy of this experience is learning about our new furry family member and watching their personality unfold. However, as many pet parents are well-aware, along with the fun-stuff can come behavioral and physical issues that need to be addressed.
This is where I have the pleasure of helping animals on a daily basis. Upon bringing an animal into your home, you often don’t know what mental, emotional, physical scars they may have. A great portion of my animal communication work involves facilitating a deep understanding of what your animals are thinking and feeling. Pinpointing the underlying issue is the start on the path to healing. Once an animal feels understood they can help us to understand what they need in order to bring about positive and lasting change.
Massage and energy work can be used separately or simultaneously to enhance the life of an animal who has experienced possible trauma, multiple moves to new homes and caregivers(some not as good as others), and stressors inherent in residing in even the best animal shelters. The good news is our pets benefit from all the things that humans benefit from with massage and energy work! This includes but is not limited to aging-related issues, post-surgical recovery, emotional imbalance, immune system support, and injuries.
For instance, I had the opportunity to provide massage and energy work to two wonderful mix breed shelter dogs who are currently up for adoption in NJ. Geo and Jack had recently been moved to their current shelter and were brought to a charity event where I was providing massage and energy work sessions.
Geo melted into his massage. It was an honor to be able to help him to release some pent up energy and tension, which is very common in dogs who are residing in animal shelters. It took some time to get Jack settled for his massage due to the many distractions in our outdoor environment, but you could see the pleasure in his face while he took his turn soaking up the experience.
All animals can benefit from massage, energy work and animal communication, even if they have not gone through the same challenges impacting shelter animals. Even if it is to get ahead of possible future issues developing, providing our animal family members with restorative holistic care that benefits them in body, mind and soul is a real no-brainer!
