Super Model Seeking Home
I spoke recently with Pupcorn, resident beautiful girl at Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter in East Hanover, NJ, and one of the stars of the “Rub My Belly” video (see at end)
Ms. Pupcorn is seeking a home. She is a little sad at this point. She has been at the shelter for a year and even though she is loved by shelter staff and is a real sweetheart, she waits for her forever home. I was asked to talk with Pupcorn to find out how she is feeling and to gain some insight into why she thinks she is still seeking a home.
Pupcorn: I am depressed. I feel like I’m never going to get a home.
Me: What happens when you go to events? (one of the shelter employees who has had Pupcorn have overnight stays at her home but can’t adopt her, has told me that Pupcorn ignores people when they take her to adoption events).
Pupcorn: Pupcorn shows me what happens at the shelter events. Pupcorn watches the shelter employee walking away to let the potential adopters meet with her and I feel her fear. She sees the employee as “safe,” and is worried about new people.
Me: I explain to Pupcorn that the shelter staff is going to be very careful about where she goes.
Pupcorn: I have had bad experiences in the past.
Me: I know, but Pupcorn, the staff is going to make sure the home you go to is a good one for you.
Pupcorn: I would really like a home.
Me: The other thing I notice is that Pupcorn’s sadness is being picked up on by people who are looking for a dog to adopt. This isn’t something anyone would think since Pupcorn loves to run and play. However, this unseen energy is preventing people from being attracted to her.
The suggestion that I made was for both Pupcorn and shelter staff is to visualize Pupcorn giving off a very bright, sunny, positive energy. This is actually Pupcorn’s true self but it’s being “masked,” so to speak. Additionally, the shelter may choose to use Essential Oils to improve Pupcorn’s energy (note: I only use Young Living Essential oils for animals as well as myself due to their purity).
I feel that Pupcorn’s forever home is out there. She is a fantastic, affectionate dog with a great personality and would make a wonderful family member.
