Conversation with Pippa (Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter)
Pippa at Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter in East Hanover, NJ
I spoke with Pippa, a sweet, gentle dog living at Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter this week and also gave her a massage and Reiki. Here is my conversation with Pippa:
Anne: I asking Pippa how she would describe herself?
Pippa: I am very sensitive. I feel everything around me. I want to stay out here (out here is an office where I was communicating with and massaging Pippa). I like the people here. They take care of me.
(NOTE: The shelter has been letting Pippa have time away from the noisy kennel area where the others dogs are since she was acting sad and depressed.)
Anne: What was your life like before you went to a shelter?
Pippa: I was wandering. I was first in a home when I was a puppy. Then someone let me go on the street. They thought someone else would find me and take me. I felt really tense when I was out there. I didn’t know what to do or how to get food.
Anne: I see at this point a person who appears to be living on the streets attempting to give her some food and she jumps backward out of fear.
What type of home do you want?
A calm peaceful home. When am I going home? A home where the human is calm and considers how the environment would effect me. (Editor’s note, i.e.: maybe not blaring rock music as a primary past time).
Anne: I show Pippa that people are trying to find her a home but we want to learn about what she wants and ask her about children.
Pippa: It could be a home with children. The right temperament of children that wouldn’t grab at me and make lots of noise would be OK. (NOTE: This is where it’s important to consider all possibilities, including children that are a little bit older or more mature).
Anne: I show Pippa that she needs to send out the vision of the kind of home she wants like a bubble that gets bigger and bigger and attracts the right person/family. I also show her that she needs to protect herself by envisioning a bright white light covering her so that she isn’t so affected by the energy of others and by the loud environment she is in.
Pippa: Pippa thanks me and snores.
